Impulse Ethics

A whole spectrum of tactics are used by businesspeople and clients to take advantage their counterpart.

Using another person's emotional weaknesses against them is a common tactic amongst clients and businesspeople. A housing investor takes a house in deteriorating condition and puts in new carpets, gold facets, and a nice paint job to emotionally lead the buyer in closing the deal. Sometimes this is seen in sales that offer a piece of the "good life," a step up in class. Knowing a clients dreams and fantasies allows an unscrupulous businessperson to exploit the clients emotional weakness. It is difficult to classify this as unethical but it is predatory (a moral term for less than civilized) and it does lead the buyer to false expectations by carefully staged deceptions. An ethical evaluator would have to analyze many other aspects of the predatory salesman before concluding a pattern of unethical behavior.
