Drama
Using drama to close a sale is a time honored method of increasing sales. But, drama can be taken to excess and used as a tool of dishonest business people to increase their profits. Drama is used to overpower customers emotionally. This can be subtle, intimidating or emotionally violent. The strong emotions of an unscrupulous business person tends to fatigue the customers’ desire to gather more information concerning a product or service. As the dialog heats up customers sense that the further they probe the merchant, the more unpleasant the situation is becoming. Since the customer is already committed to buying a produce or ordering a service they put up with the abuse. Some customers like to banter with merchants not only to sharpen their
bargaining skills but also to socialize. Here the business strategy approach
is to present a little drama and a lot of storytelling. The buying public
always like a good story that they can pass on to their friends.
